I wrote and recorded “The Court of Moral Bankruptcy" during the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, with the help of my old pal Debra Knox who wrote the bridge. I haven’t finished the song yet... (I didn’t like the groove of the track)
I plan to finish it for my next “solo” album.
This is just the intro.
lyrics
The Court of Moral Bankruptcy
(Dave Seabury/Deborah Knox)
In the court of moral bankruptcy
Where the “high and mighty” dwell
Smell the stench of right/white supremacy
In their high and mighty hell
And we sat, and we watched
And we saw that she was the one
With courage, the conviction, and the grit
And we hoped she’d be the one
Who could tip that balance back
In the moral bankruptcy court
And we sat, and we watched
A little man called “judge”
In the court of moral bankruptcy
As he sniveled, and he squirmed, and he sweat, almost wept
With the stench of the white supremacy
Chorus
And we sat
And we watched
Asked ourselves, Is all hope lost?
In the court, in the court of moral bankruptcy
And we sat and we watched
As the jury of his peers
Turn victim into villain
In that moral bankruptcy court
Bridge: In a land ruled by love, we are supreme
Of a world without walls, we can dream
So RESIST, lend a hand, raise your fist, TAKE A STAND!
END Court of Moral Bankruptcy
END the high and mighty rule
END that stench of white supremacy
END the high and mighty hell
No, No More, No More Moral Bankruptcy
No, No More high and mighty rule
End that stench, that stench of white supremacy
No More high and mighty hell
